A New Look at the New Oakland Coliseum District
ULI East Bay will host a look at the master plan for the new Oakland Coliseum District— a 750-acre swath of East Oakland where city leaders want to see a revamped sports complex as part of an effort to retain professional teams.
The City of Oakland has retained JRDV Urban International leading a design and development team that includes Forest City and HKS to create a strategy to redevelop the Coliseum area into a vital mixed-use urban community.
The Coliseum District is possibly the largest under-utilized, transit-served site in the Bay Area. The project goal is to retain Oakland’s sports teams and create new state-of-the-art sports facilities as anchor catalysts for a larger sports entertainment district and mixed-use urban community.
The larger area plan would include a science and technology district that would establish a significant East Bay footprint in the innovation economy of Oakland. This visionary plan, if realized, could fuel economic development in Oakland and spur an exciting new era for the City.
Bring some lunch and listen to Ed McFarlan, Principal of JRDV Urban International present the plan for a transformation of this major asset into a thriving, sustainable, healthy and equitable urban showcase for the region.
This event will be held in the large conference room on the 19th Floor of Wendel Rosen, 1111 Broadway from noon to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
This is a free event for Urban Land Institute members only.
